In February 2017 a group of cancer survivors in Armenia established HENARAN charitable foundation to render support to cancer patients and survivors, their family members and caregivers.

The philosophy of HENARAN Foundation’s activities stems from Albert Einstein’s famous phrase:

"The life of the individual has meaning only insofar as it aids in making the life of every living thing nobler and more beautiful. Life is sacred, that is to say, it is the supreme value, to which all other values are subordinate”.

HENARAN is a cancer patient advocacy organization and its mission is to actively participate in the fight against cancer in Armenia, as well as promote and raise public awareness about oncological diseases and their possible prevention. The main objectives of HENARAN Foundation are:

1. Arrange material, psychological, social, legal, and rehabilitative assistance for its beneficiaries, ensure patient education and patient empowerment.

2. Emphasize the importance of cancer screening programs and early detection of cancer by promoting the introduction and further development of pilot and/or nation-wide screening programs through partnership with government agencies of healthcare sector, as well as other national and international organizations.

3. Raise the level of public awareness about oncological diseases in Armenia.

4. Contribute to development and publication of educational and public awareness materials on oncological diseases, design and/or translation and publication of clinical guidelines, dissemination and exchange of other relevant information.

5. Enhance the institutional and professional capacity of cancer care institutions through organization of training sessions, seminars, symposia, and conferences.

It is difficult to reconcile oneself to the diagnosis of cancer and this becomes a serious problem for many patients and their families. HENARAN Foundation can help you better understand the cancer-related issues, treatment options and support activities, as well as through “support groups” set up useful communication with other patients, including cancer survivors. HENARAN Foundation will help you understand how to navigate through healthcare system, brief on your patient rights, as well as provide contact information of consultants, home care service providers, and other services.
